Design Myles Quin, Milan Design Week / Palimpsest, 2025;
8 postcards, 100 of each design
Acqua Lambro is an artistic project developed around “an impossible idea”: transforming the water of the Lambro, one of the most polluted rivers in Europe, into a prestigious mineral water. Speculative design and environmental activism meet in a utopic and situationist work of art: a provocative action to reconnect Milan to its last remaining river.
Postcards were free to all visitors at Milan Design Week. They showed adverts for the 'impossible' mineral water, bottle label designs, images of the river and the river-detritus-built machine used to purify the water, plus lab analysis data proving that the machine had actually made the polluted water drinkable. On the back they also beautiful quotes from the many people (hydrologists, activists, ecologists, engineers, community leaders) who gethan&myles were lucky enough to meet in Milan – and who continue to fight for the protection of this brutalised water source.
